Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing is excited to partner with a leading manufacturing client to find an experienced Maintenance Lead for their Troon sawmill site. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing all mechanical and electrical maintenance, automation, site projects, and maintenance systems. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional with deep knowledge and experience in heavy industry, good manufacturing practices, and lean principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of fitters and electricians, ensuring high performance and process efficiency.
  • Asset Management: Oversee maintenance strategies, including planning, CMMS, preventive, and condition-based maintenance.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with site Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • Maintenance Systems: Plan and develop PEMAC/CMMS systems to maximize line/process efficiency, including energy and utilities.
  • KPI Delivery: Achieve KPIs related to downtime, uptime, and PM schedules.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices in process engineering and maintenance systems, focusing on new technology and design standards.
  • Team Development: Develop the Maintenance team's skills through training and on-the-job coaching.
  • Cost Management: Manage maintenance and engineering budgets, focusing on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Contractor Management: Collaborate with external contractors to complete maintenance and project work to high standards.

Experience required:

  • Qualification in Engineering (mechanical & electrical) or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience in maintenance/engineering management; experience in sawmilling or heavy industry is a plus but other industries will be considered
  • Expertise in maintenance strategies like RCM, TPM, and Asset Management.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a "can do" attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships.
