Shift Maintenance Engineer - Livingston/ West Lothian

Shift Maintenance Engineer (Elec bias)

Livingston

Shift Pattern: 4 on/4 off (Day shift/Night shift)

Hours: 6am – 6pm/6pm – 6am

 

We are proud to be working with a specialist chemical manufacturer to find a Shift Maintenance Engineer with an Electrical bias to join their team in Livingston.

 

Responsibilities

  • Comply with permit to work on site.
  • Carry out Electrical / Mechanical breakdown repairs.
  • Assist on Electrical / Mechanical Projects when required
  • Ensure that safe working practices are always maintained.
  • Cover for other shift engineers during holidays / sickness.
  • Liaise with Engineering Supervisor to agree priorities
  • Liaise with Shift Supervisor during silent hours to agree priorities
  • Actively close of work orders in Shire Systems (Computer maintenance management system)
  • Work with Engineer Supervisor to prioritise work orders
  • Participate in internal and external training
  • Responsible for the effective use of time and utilities to achieve Overall Equipment Effectiveness targets.
  • Ensure effective communication oral and written including shift handover logs/checklist and site interaction
  • Active participation in site inspections and safety initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with the engineering department to resolve any maintenance issues and ensure work orders are entered into the system.
  • Ensure holidays are covered
  • On call requirements may be required in the absence of any engineers on shift
  • Ensure main safety hazards on site are known and protections in place to mitigate against these.

 

Requirements

  • Experience of Scada Control Processes – preferable.
  • CompEx 1-4 or experience working in an ATEX rated environment - preferable
  • Qualified electrician/mechanical fitter. - essential
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a chemical/process or heavy engineering environment. - preferable
  • Educated to HNC level, or equivalent, in a relative discipline or 3 years’ practical experience in chemical manufacturing. – preferable
  • Experience with Motors/pumps, Belts/Conveyors/screws, PLC’s and Invertors - essential
  • Knowledge of Permit to Work Systems (Hot Work/Vessel Entry). – preferable
