Senior UX Researcher - Edinburgh/Midlothian

Who we are...

At Incentive Games, we’re on a mission to create and deliver powerful acquisition and retention tools that help our clients unlock their players' full potential. We do this by developing custom free-to-play and pay-to-play games that are intuitive, fun, and accessible to players across the globe.

We care deeply about work-life balance and are always looking for ways to improve the well-being of our team. We’re proud to be recognized as one of the best places to work in the UK for the second year running by Great Place to Work UK, and 100% of our team of 60+ talented individuals agreed! But we have to admit—our 4-day work week probably has a lot to do with it!

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll join a small but talented team of three designers, led by our Design Manager, as we continue pushing the boundaries of user-centered design in the iGaming world. We’re all about creating innovative, engaging experiences, and as a senior team member, you’ll play a key role in shaping that journey.

We’re looking for someone with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach—someone who’s happy to share their knowledge and support other teams in their work.

You’ll be leading the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all UX research and testing processes. Since this is an area of growth for us, your expertise will help establish these processes, working closely with our Design Manager to define and implement best practices.

This is a hands-on role, so you'll need to feel confident offering strategic recommendations to stakeholders, mentoring team members, and rolling up your sleeves to dive into product development. You'll conduct research, analyze user behavior, develop user flows, and test your findings, always with the goal of delivering a superior user experience.

You will be responsible for:

  • Recommending effective tools and strategies for UX research and testing
  • Recruiting participants, conducting interviews, and running tests to gather meaningful insights into user behaviors, pain points, and key metrics
  • Conducting in-depth research into user demographics and developing detailed user personas
  • Driving innovation by proposing solutions and creating new features and user journeys to boost satisfaction and engagement
  • Supporting our Design Manager in creating a UX research framework to standardize methods and ensure consistent results
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (developers, marketing, etc.) to integrate research findings into product development and customer engagement, while presenting these findings to guide decisions
  • Defining and tracking key UX metrics (e.g., task success rate, time on task, user satisfaction) to drive data-based decisions and measure the impact of UX improvements
  • Maintaining a UX research repository to store past insights, user feedback, and test results for easy reference and continuous learning
  • Creating feedback loops to iteratively improve the user experience through both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Acting as a user advocate in strategic discussions, ensuring user needs are front and center in product planning
  • Ensuring ethical guidelines are followed when conducting tests and handling sensitive data

What skills and experience we need from you:-

Essentials:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a UX role, with a focus on UX research methods and conducting UX testing
  • Excellent attention to detail and a knack for solving complex problems
  • A deep understanding of user behavior and user-centered design principles
  • Knowledge of best practices in accessibility and usability
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently or as part of a team
  • Basic understanding of Figma and experience with a variety of user research and testing tools
  • A passion for UX and a commitment to staying up to date with industry trends

Desired:

  • Experience leading teams or mentoring others
  • Previous experience within the mobile gaming industry
  • Creation of interactive prototypes for usability testing and concept expression

What you’ll get in return

  • A 4 day work week (30 hours work with 37.5 hours pay!)
  • Flexibility to work fully remote, hybrid, or from our comfortable office, based in the center of Edinburgh - whatever suits you best
  • 25.5 days annual leave
  • A competitive employer-contributed pension
  • Vitality health insurance*
  • Salary sacrifice options
