Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are excited to Partner with our Global Manufacturing client who are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Project Engineer to oversee all instrument and electrical installations across their capital projects at their Edinburgh site. This role is crucial to ensuring that all designs and installations are carried out in strict accordance with our site engineering standards, guaranteeing safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for all E&I activities on capital projects, providing technical guidance and ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
  • Project Management: Manage contract E&I discipline engineers and the EPC contractor, ensuring all designs meet site standards. Oversee the scope, budget control, and reporting for all E&I aspects of CAPEX projects.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure functional safety compliance for all E&I activities, adhering to IEC 61508 / 61511 standards, and manage installations in hazardous areas (ATEX compliance).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Maintenance & Compliance teams to align E&I proposals with site requirements. Support the training of operational teams for any new installations.
  • Documentation and Quality: Ensure IS calculations and loop drawings are updated, and that all qualification and quality obligations are met. Provide hands-on support during project handover.
  • Technical Support: Offer ongoing technical support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for E&I issues. Provide ad-hoc technical support to maintenance and compliance teams.
  • Resource Planning: Effectively plan and allocate resources for all E&I activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Experience required:

  • Qualified in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control Engineering or similar 
  • Proven track record of delivering complex E&I engineering projects, with experience in permit to work systems, including working at height, confined space, and isolations.
  • Strong experience in project budget control and reporting, with a history of leading a team of discipline engineers in a project environment.
  • Experience with installations in hazardous areas (ATEX) and site commissioning, including fault finding.
  • Functional safety experience is desirable, along with NEBOSH or other safety qualifications.
