Network Manager

Our client based in East Kilbride are looking for an experienced Network Manager to join their team.

The Role:

The Network Manager is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and enhancement of the organization's IT networks. This role ensures that the network infrastructure is robust, secure, and efficient, enabling the company to meet its strategic goals. The Network Manager will in time oversee a team of network engineers and administrators, collaborate with other IT professionals, and manage vendor relationships to maintain and improve network performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Design and Implementation:
    • Develop, implement, and manage the organization's network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
    • Design scalable, resilient, and secure network architectures to meet business requirements.
  • Maintenance and Support:
    • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of the network, ensuring minimal downtime.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues in a timely manner.
    • Monitor network performance and proactively identify areas for improvement.
  • Security Management:
    • Implement and enforce network security policies and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
    • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of network engineers and administrators.
    • Provide technical guidance and training to team members.
    • Evaluate team performance and foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
    • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
    • Evaluate and recommend network hardware, software, and services.
    • Coordinate with other IT teams and business units to align network initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Project Management:
    • Plan and oversee network-related projects, including upgrades, expansions, and new implementations.
    • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
    • Prepare and present project reports and documentation.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and policies.
    • Generate regular reports on network performance, security, and project status.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Experience in network administration and engineering.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and architecture.
    • Proficiency in network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software.
    • In-depth knowledge of network protocols, such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
    • Experience with network security best practices and technologies.
    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
