Introducing Kerry McFarlane: Joining Nine Twenty Recruitment

Meet the newest member of Nine Twenty: Kerry McFarlane!

Holly Clark

Get to know Kerry- the newest member of Nine Twenty Recruitment…

Can you tell us a little about your background before you joined the team at Nine Twenty Recruitment?

I’ve worked in recruitment for 14 years, initially within large corporate agencies and then more latterly within smaller boutique’s. I’ve always had very commercially focused roles where developing relationships with prospective clients is the main objective within my roles. Before getting into recruitment I spent a very short time working in a door to door sales company selling charities, and when I was at school spent my Saturdays working in a lighthouse!

What attracted you to working with our team?

The team, then the brand!  I’ve watched Karen Stewart build her business for years, she is someone I’ve always thought does things the right way. Gordon and Chris have a phenomenal tech business and seeing how they have built their brand in marketing over the last few years has been really impressive. Once I met the guys I felt like they were just like me: They are so passionate about doing a good job and clearly love coming to work every day.

What does your role in the business involve?

I’ve joined to lead the Marketing & Digital brand, nurture and develop the relationships we already have at Nine Twenty and grow our footprint in this space. I’ll also be working very closely with The Scottish Marketing Network, to continue to bring interesting and insightful thought leadership and networking opportunities to our community. Supporting people looking to make their first moves in their career is something I’m also very passionate about and I’m keen to continue volunteering in this space as well.

What is your focus over the next 3 months?

Our loyal client base is always priority at Nine Twenty and I’ll be spending the first few months getting to know everyone. I have some really exciting opportunities to bring to the market over the next few months, delivering the best experience to candidates is always my number one priority. Additionally, working with the team and supporting them, and I do also have plans to make a grow my team before the end of this year.

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Sociable. Funny. Impatient.

Tell us more about who you are out of work?

I’m pretty outgoing out with work, I’m always making plans with friends and family, often involving eating and drinking. I’m from the Highlands and deeply patriotic, I love to explore Scotland and all the beautiful things it has to offer. My boyfriend and I do love a holiday, we like to get away at least a couple of times per year to somewhere we’ve never been before. I have two Siberian Huskies who I adore, they keep me on my toes.

What is your biggest success so far?

I find this question so hard! I work in an industry that really recognises hard work and success and I’m so grateful for that. I’ve always been rewarded for working hard and opportunities to progress have always been offered to me, so I guess I’m constantly building on my success.

For me I am so driven by being known to do an excellent job. if someone appreciates a great services and tells someone about that, that is honestly the biggest compliment for me. I feel every success I have is down to the great people I am fortunate enough to work with.
