Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are supporting FBC in their Edinburgh and Livingston sites as they build their teams to support their transformation. It is a brilliant time to join the business when there is change and investment with a particular spotlight on the engineering teams. They are recruiting in maintenance engineers as they have grown their headcount here, reliability engineers and project engineering manager which is to support the new structure
We caught up with the Head of Engineering, David Drain who tells us more about the opportunities within his teams.
Hi David, you are new to this role, can you tell us more about your background and why you joined FBC UK?
I have been in engineering from leaving school and have enjoyed many brilliant roles delivering change through capital projects and implementing Preventive Maintenance Policies and Strategies. This role is exciting as it has the scope of both Projects and Maintenance. I have been involved in the manufacture of many things that people need, but never something that people want. It is great to be making biscuits and products that are household names.
You have joined the business to drive transformation across engineering in the Group/Scotland? - Can you tell us some of the exciting things that are happening just now in engineering at FBC UK?
FBC are investing heavily throughout the group and are driven to expand and innovate. This brings a level of excitement to the roles in the company. We are also applying sound maintenance engineering practices to ensure that we are getting the most out of the assets installed and give the best service to the production department.
Of course this is creating new opportunities in engineering, what type of skills are you looking for and more importantly, what type of people and personalities will thrive?

What do you enjoy most about working at FBC UK?
I enjoy the products and quality of the products that we make. The variety of the work and collaborating with all departments of the team. The staff shop and the smells round the factory are great!
